Aye, Ai, Indeed!
The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. The dog, startled, woke up and then yawned.
The fox was not a threat to the piece he was writing. He had original ideas just waiting to explode from every corner of his sleepy mind. Only, he needed to put his paws to that blank piece of paper that was now staring back at him. Though the stare was blank and difficult to figure out, he espied a hint of mockery in there. He stared back. He was going to win this battle.
The fox had turned around and was sprinting back at him, bounding fast as it prepared to make its next leap. The dog lazily curled into a furry ball, pretending to go back to sleep. Only its ears, standing sharp and straight, waiting for that ruffle overhead, almost gave it away.
The fox gathered all its energy and leapt high over the balled-up dog. But quick as a loosened spring, the furry ball uncoiled, and leaping up caught the fox by its tail just as it was right overhead. “Ai, Ai!” the fox yelped. “I know,” said the dog, as it stuffed the brief down its throat.
The fox spat it back out, all covered in spittle and glob. The grinning dog, letting the fox’s tail go, spread out the still wet, crinkled sheet of paper. It was no longer blank. It didn’t reek of doggy breath. But the dog now lazier than ever, knew that it would do. “Ai, ai, it would do indeed!”
